Star Crossed Pines: A finished quilt featuring Christmas Morning from Carried Away Quilting

Spring is slowly arriving in Minnesota. It’s a joy to hear the robins tweeting in the evergreen outside my window. I am so excited for my grass to green, the perennials to peek out from the soil, and the trees to bud. But we quilters also know that in a month or two, several wonderful Christmas and winter fabric collections will be hitting the stores, and we have to be prepared! As crazy as it sounds, now is the time to plan any quilts you may want to have completed by next Christmas. I hope that my Star Crossed ...

Update: Fat Quarter Lattice Quilt is back from the quilter from Carried Away Quilting

Hello quilting friends! I haven’t posted on my blog in about a month, and a few of you have noticed. I’ve received some sweet emails and messages, just checking in to see if everything is okay in the Carried Away Quilting sewing room. All is well here, I’ve just been busy behind the scenes.  I do have some fun things to show you in the coming weeks, including a new pattern.

Pumpkin Sky pillow: A welcoming touch for my front porch from Carried Away Quilting

The first week of September has ushered in bright, crisp days for those of us in Minnesota. I plan to spend part of my Labor Day weekend doing some fall decorating. As a jump start, I added a few autumn elements to my front porch, including my newest Pumpkin Sky pillow.

I hope you don’t remember that I was working on this white, butterscotch and denim version of my Pumpkin Sky pillow in September of last year! I finally got my ducks in a row and sent it off to be quilted by my friend Barb at Quilts on ...

A sunny, sweet graduation quilt from Carried Away Quilting

Last week I shared some sentimental feelings with you about making graduation quilts, and here I am again, full of emotion over another graduate we are celebrating, our niece Madison. She will be heading off to college in the fall, where I am certain she will excel in her studies and make the most of her college experience. Madison is smart, kind, funny, compassionate and hard working. She will be a blessing to everyone she encounters.

When I was choosing fabrics for Maddie’s quilt, I was drawn to Lella Boutique’s Lollipop Garden collection because it reminded me of ...

Throw quilt featuring Harvest Road's "Nature" panel from Carried Away Quilting

Most of you know how crazy I am about the Harvest Road fabric collection by Lella Boutique. Did you also know that Moda produced a quilt panel with this collection? It is aptly named “Nature” and features oversized sketches of the Harvest Road oak leaves and florals in white against a beautiful sage green backdrop.

The Nature panel measures at 57” x 69” and makes a wonderful throw quilt. I purchased my favorite navy floral from the Harvest Road collection to use for the backing. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I sent the top and backing off to Starlit Quilts for ...
